On April 23, 2026, another Glass Encounter took place, this time on the theme of Eliáška. Together we immersed ourselves in the story of the former chandelier factory of the company Elias Palme in Kamenický Šenov.
Eliáška
We dedicated the evening to the story of the former chandelier factory of the company Elias Palme in Kamenický Šenov, an exceptional Art Nouveau building from 1905, which in its time belonged to the most prominent enterprises of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. From here, chandeliers were sent to renowned opera houses in Milan, Rome, and Sydney, as well as to the famous Waldorf–Astoria hotel in New York. After decades of decline, this unique building is now gaining new hope thanks to the activities of the Eliáška Foundation Fund, which is working to preserve it and give it a new future.
The program also included live glassmaking at Novotný Glass, where visitors were given an insight into the traditional chandelier-making techniques that made the name Elias Palme famous far beyond the region. The evening continued with a presentation at Restaurace Huť, where members of the Eliáška Foundation Fund introduced the building’s history, current condition, and plans for its preservation.
